When you have simplified your life sufficiently – like Einstein said “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler” – you’ll one day experience the joy of actually owning your own time, attention, and creative energy.

Then the challenge will be what to do with these new freedoms. I’ve chosen to spend part of them on traveling, being outdoors, which in turn generates more energy, and on reading about 50 books per year, fueling creativity and mental wellbeing.

Books take time to read and reflect on, which is kind of the point, but will pay off big in clarity, new insights, and deeper attention. Good books also make the very often complex and fragmented simple. They are the opposite of social media and news.
